The Essential Shoes: Ten shoes that every girl should own
When I
was younger I never really knew what the big deal was with shoes, they were
simply for warmth and practicality. I was happy to throw on whatever my mum
picked out for me at Clarks and get on with the important business of playing
outdoors. I would never have considered myself one of those girls preoccupied
with something as trivial as shoes; for me it was all about good value and a
decent sole for climbing trees.
But has
something happened to me over the years, I’ve become one of those very girls
and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love shoes, there’s something inside of me
that means every time I see a beautiful pair of heels I can’t stop myself from
reaching for the credit card as if possessed. The
thing is; shoes really can make an outfit, even if you’re wearing an ensemble
completely bought from Primark you can still make it look more like Prada with
the right pair of shoes, they can make or break a look.
As
tempting as it can be to stock pile sky scraper designer heels and
sequined sandals it’s probably not the shrewdest investment and there comes a
point in even the strongest relationship where your boyfriend is simply not
prepared to build you yet another IKEA shoe rack. So to avoid shoe-buyer’s
remorse (as if that’s a thing) and to help make sure you never find yourself in
that situation where you don’t have the right kicks for your outfit I’ve been
exploring some of the most essential shoes around.

THE
SHOWSTOPPERS
Every shoe closet has at least
one pair, those shoes that you bought on a whim with
your student loan or the remnants of your overdraft. These are the stand-out
pieces of any half decent shoe collections and probably at the pricier end too.
However they might not be the best value for money as even though you love them
like a child they’re highly impractical, uncomfortable and just generally
outrageous; you’ll probably end up only wearing them once a year but hey
they’re worth it because after all you can’t help which shoes you fall in love
with!
