Summer Nail Trends

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that nail art is THE craze right now. From texture to 3d bows, to intricate designs, nail art is here to stay.

Here are some of my favorite nail trends for summer:

Black and white: from clothes to shoes, to nails, Black and white is carrying into the summer.

Statement nails and chevron:  Cheveron is probably one of the hottest trends right now and looks awesome when worn as a statement nail with a more toned down color
Ombre: you can do any mixture of colors but this light to dark, or two tone trend is a must have.

Paint splatter: It looks fun and artsy and will draw attention from tons of admirers.

Pastel: these subdued colors will have you feeling pretty in no time.

Nautical:  It's only natural to think of playing in the water when it comes to summer. Try out a nautical inspired print like anchors, stripes and sailboats for this trend.

Beach Bound

I'm so excited! We just confirmed our vacation! Nothing like waiting until the last minute, but this gal is leavin town on Friday for the beautiful waves in sunny Florida!

We will be making a stop in my birthplace Jacksonville and heading down to Indieatlantic.

I can hear the waves already and it is making getting through the next two days of work nearly impossible! Here is where we will be staying : http://1stbeach.com/

We now have to pack, make arrangements for the kittys and make sure we have our life together in two short days!

Bling Ring-A movie review

Wednesday I was invited to a private screening of The Bling Ring. I was super excited to see this movie since I was obsessed as this story was unfolding in real life. I began watching E! Networks, The Pretty Wild, unknowing of the fact that a few short days after the launch of the series, one of the stars would become a main suspect in the Burgler Bunch.

The Bling Ring follows a group of teens from California as they burglarize celebrity homes. I became an instant fan of this film for a few reasons:
 1. It is a HUGE improvement over the awful Lifetime movie that aired a few years ago. It's an actual movie, with a story line, character development, and humor.
2.  This movie had some really great humorous moments, if not just for the fact that the scene was so rediculous, you can't help but see it as funny.
3. It puts you into the shoes of a robber. It was amazing to me to see that for some of the characters, this was an adrenaline rush, an opportunity to be part of the group, or the act of invading someones privacy was normal and no big deal to them.

Overall, I thought that many of the actors chosen to play the burglery suspects were a great choice, with the exception of one.
The character Sam was supposedly based off of Alexis Neiers "sister" Tess Taylor. She looked NOTHING like her and her acting was just off. I was not a fan.

Overall, I thought this movie was pretty enjoyable. I don't think someone who doesn't have interest in celebrity or reality TV would be particularly interested in it, nor would most guys, so go see it with your girlfriends and marvel at the real life, unbelievable, closet of Paris Hilton.

Me and Olivia after the movie!

Summer essentials

Summer is quickly approaching and as the weather is warming up, here are my summer must-haves.

Clothing- A great pair of crisp white shorts, loose flowy tops in jersey fabrics, a great solid maxi. These three items can be worn casual or dressed up quickly with a change of shoes and jewelry. Bikinis are great to mix and match your favorite styles year after year. I always shop the clearance rack off season so I have a ton of different combinations to use the next year.

Accessories- a tote, throw all of your items in for the pool or beach, or use it for your everyday bag. Sandals- this nude pair from Diba true comes with bright piping that can be worn with almost any outfit. Don't forget about a hat and sunnies for sun protection.

Beauty- Sunscreen, a great bronzer (I LOVE Rimmel's bronzer and it is only $4!), Lip Balm and a bright funky mani by Jamberry!

What are your summer essentials?

DIY- Dreamcatchers

I Love dreamcatchers. I think they are so unique and beautiful and represent a piece of my heritage that makes me love them even more. I took a personal day to unwind and relax yesterday, and nothing makes me relax more than crafting!

A few summers ago I made a point to learn how to make these and I was so surprised to learn how easy it was! I love the traditional leather wrapped and feather versions, but I quickly learned that that gets expensive fast. After a quick trip to the dollar store, I found these grape vine wreaths that look just as great.

Here are a few images that show how easy it really is.

To get started you will want to wrap your dream catcher in leather or string, or just use a grape wreathe, like the ones pictured above.

Then all you need to learn is the stitch and repeat until you reach the center. You can add beads and other trinkets as you please.

Then just knot the middle, add some hanging embellishments as you wish, then you are done!.

Trending: 90's fashion

One of the hottest trends for upcoming seasons is 90's inspiration.

I was just a little shy of being fully emerged in this trend the first time around, but it is coming back in full swing.  I don't mean pull out your swishy pants and scrunchies, but denim, florals, minimalism and grunge inspiration will soon be creeping back into your wardrobe.
